We’re working with a fast-growing Series B startup in the energy / utilities sector, founded in 2021. With a team of 150 and a recent $75M Series B raise, they’re on a mission to transform how businesses access renewable energy. Their platform uses AI to match energy demand from companies directly with renewable supply.
Project & role scope:
They’re looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to lead one of the core teams within their Platform group, owning infrastructure, security, and the tooling that enables engineers to ship reliably at scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong focus on architecture, strategy, and scaling systems for growth. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to understand real infrastructure pain points, translate them into scalable solutions, and ensure what gets built is actually adopted across the organisation.
You’ll balance incident response and reliability with proactive improvements, while driving a shift toward self-serve infrastructure. There’s also a strong mentorship angle—supporting engineers, improving DevEx, and helping the company scale without unnecessary complexity.
Skills needed:
7+ years of experience in DevOps / Platform / Infrastructure roles, ideally in high-growth or scaling environments
Strong experience with AWS and distributed, microservices or event-driven architectures
Hands-on experience with serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, etc.)
Solid scripting/programming skills (Python, Node.js, Bash or similar)
Proven track record of building and driving adoption of internal tooling or platforms
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar)
Strong understanding of security best practices (IAM, secrets, network controls)
Experience owning delivery processes (backlog, prioritisation, capacity planning)
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Experience mentoring engineers and working in low-ego, collaborative environments
Fluency in English
